The HMR section familiarizes drivers with the regulations established by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for safe hazardous materials transportation. They learn about their responsibilities as shippers, carriers, and drivers, as well as packaging, labeling, loading, unloading, and handling requirements. Compliance with HMR ensures secure transport, prevents accidents, and minimizes risks to personnel and the environment. Hazardous Materials Identification covers the classification system for hazardous materials based on their properties. Drivers learn about the nine classes, packaging, labeling requirements, and the Hazardous Materials Table for reference. Handling and Storage procedures teach drivers safe loading, unloading, and handling practices. They learn how to secure materials, prevent accidents, and minimize spill risks.
